Cefoxitin sodium for Injection is indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms, such as respiratory tract infections (upper and lower), urinary tract infections including uncomplicated gonorrhea, peritonitis and other intra-abdominal infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, Septicemia including typhus, gynecological infections, bone and joint infections, skin and soft structure infections, and endocarditis.
Cefoxitin sodium has a high degree of effect on anaerobic and stability in the presence of bacterial beta-lactamases. Many infections caused by mixtures of susceptible aerobic and anaerobic bacteria or bacterial beta-lactamases respond to treatment with cefoxitin sodium.
